Program Services in 2007

The Cape Ann Food Pantry provided free canned goods, fresh produce, meats, bread, milk and eggs for 252,649 meals to 1,292 households representing 3,298 people.

The Open Door served 17,192 hot meals to guests needing food and companionship.

Mobile Market, a free farmers' market located in three public housing neighborhoods, provided 51,385 pounds of fresh produce and groceries to 168 households representing 567 people.

Brown Bag Market provided 24,637 pounds of groceries and fresh produce to 224 households representing 266 seniors in Gloucester and Rockport.

Collaborative Meals supplied Action Shelter, North Shore Health Project, SeniorCare, and Harvest Meals with more than 24,000 pounds of groceries and fresh produce.

Holiday Meals Program distributed 908 turkey meal baskets to provide 4,540 meals.

Summer Food Service Program served 4,790 lunches to children ages 1-18 at four Gloucester sites during a ten-week summer lunch program.

Food Stamps Outreach handled 254 appointments for Food Stamp application assistance.

Buck-a-Bag , a weekly surplus food market,provided low-cost access to 58,651 pounds of fresh (and locally grown) produce and wholesome breads.

Second Glance Resale Shop provided the public with reduced-cost clothing and household goods, offered free items to families and individuals through referrals from other agencies, supported recycling for the community, partnered with agencies for job training, and raised revenues to support our hunger-relief programs.

Cape Ann SERVE, a local chapter of SERVE New England, promoted volunteerism through a food buying cooperative program that utilizes locally grown and produced food.
